Why the name Karlie?
It’s a melodic name. No hidden messages, no play on words. Just a name. In Basel “Karli” is the Swiss German nickname for older man named “Karl”, who are usually found at the regulars’ table - like one of our granddads. Karlie is the female form of this rather old-fashioned name. We like these contradictions.
And why “hej”? “Hej” means “Hello” in Swedish and our work is often inspired by Scandinavian design: simple formality, reduced to the core elements, honest materials and a wholesome pragmatism.
