Pilamayé

With local products against the throwaway society

Pilamayé means “Thank you” in Lakota (a language of the Sioux). It fits perfectly to the purpose of this product line. Pilamayé uses leftovers from a local organic farm and unused wild fruits from the region to produce a diverse seasonal offering.

The project is a sign against unreflected global import patterns and mass consumption. Our design plays with the natural connection and Indian heritage of the name.

How to label consistently a fast changing product line without generating to much of costs? For Pilamayé we developed a design system with black and white labelling that refers to the handmade process - printable on any home printer.
