URBAN TUNES
With Corona our city turned silent. Too silent.
We miss the vivid sound of public life that’s why we bring them back.
Choose your sound, close your eyes and listen.

Can’t wait to get back to the lively atmosphere of a crowded restaurant? Find one hour of background tunes from Basel’s famous Bodega zum Strauss: Bodega-Sound
While the public space is still there, our access to it has been restricted and still is in some ways. The number of people allowed in a place are limited, so is our freedom of movement. Noise and bustle can be distressing but daily life without the usual tunes can make you feel lonely. During this time of isolation we started to look differently at the public space. As a room for communication it allows spontaneous and planned interactions. It connects us with others. It’s an important place for leisure and recreation and an integral part or our quality of life.
The public space is a room full of atmosphere - visually and acoustically. A place for a “rendezvous of society with itself” that’s how the philosopher Hans Paul Bahrt put it. We can’t wait for our next date with our city - and with you!
In the meantime we bring the offerings of the city home:
Aktienmühle@home - an online shop with local products
Hamsterli - a regional distribution platform
Basellive - with lots of tips and hints
MyFilm - the best movies online
Bodega-Sound - one hour of familiar sound from our favourite restaurant
